The blue razor blade and pink lips are from the covers of blotter-paper booklets, of the kind left in mid-20th century hotel rooms to discourage guests from using bath linens for all but intended purposes. The writer collaged anything she found that was already flat, or that could be flattened, including the tiny paper parasols used to garnish tropical drinks.
From the collection of Elatia Harris.

Unique and though provoking, takes scrap booking to a whole new place and truly elevates it to the level of art. Thank you for sharing.
I'm delighted to learn that Elatia has unearthed her scrapbooks and is turning her attention to this new project. There are so many facets to her remarkable artistry. The connections she has made in the past and the new connections she will make as she develops this project promise to enrich us all.

What a visual treat! I hope we get to see more of this. John Altobello
I honestly had never thought of making such a collage, and I am wishing I'd have done that with my own travels. So first of all that is inspirational - and I will encourage my kids to also do so as we travel. I love how everyday things can be made into art, and even better yet made into a tangible memory. I love looking at your collages Elatia, as I have had the great opportunity to do so. Looking at them give me a taste of the adventure, and of course just adds more to do on the "places to go & things to do" list.
In a word - Beautiful.
I like the ease and nonchalance I sense in these pieces -- comfort with the medium combined with a sparkle of energy. Nice, Elatia.

Elatia's pages would be great murals or public art, a synthesis of place, pleasure, beauty, food and personality. More please soon! Holly

Beautiful! So many places and evocative images across two pages. They inspired me to dip into watercolors again.

beautiful palimpsests of travel ephemera...like memory, one layer obscures another littered with fragmented, fleeting moments and partial atmospheres torn from public places. Beautifully constructed, evocative with a keen sensitivity to 'place'. More!

Fascinating! Makes me regret all the receipts and tickets I've thrown away over the years.

Elatia's collages are the ideal vehicle for her wonderfully complex and recombinant mind. I can't wait for the book.
